1. Your Right to Cancel

Under UK consumer protection law, you have the right to cancel your warranty purchase within 14 days, subject to the conditions outlined below.

14-Day Cooling-Off Period

You may cancel your warranty and receive a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided:

  • No warranty claim has been made or is in progress
  • The cancellation request is made within 14 days of the warranty purchase date

Important: Once you have made a claim under the warranty, the warranty becomes non-refundable. This is because the warranty has been used to provide a service (claim assessment and processing).

2. After a Claim Is Made

Once you have submitted a warranty claim (regardless of the outcome), the warranty is no longer eligible for cancellation or refund. This applies even if:

  • The claim is declined or found not to be covered
  • You withdraw the claim partway through the process
  • The issue resolves itself before assessment is complete

This policy exists because processing and assessing claims involves administrative work and professional expertise, which represents value delivered to you regardless of the claim outcome.

3. How to Request a Cancellation

To cancel your warranty within the 14-day cooling-off period:

  1. Email us at warranty@ljmuk.co.uk with the subject “Warranty Cancellation Request”
  2. Include your full name, eBay order number, and warranty reference (if applicable)
  3. Confirm that no claim has been made under the warranty
  4. Provide your original payment details (we will refund to the original payment method)

4. Refund Processing Time

Once we receive and verify your cancellation request:

  • Verification: We will confirm within 1-2 working days that your warranty is eligible for cancellation
  • Processing: Your refund will be processed within 5-7 working days
  • Receipt: The funds should appear in your account within 3-5 working days after processing, depending on your bank

5. Refund Method

Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase. We cannot issue refunds to different accounts or payment methods for security reasons.

  • Credit/debit card: Refund to the original card
  • PayPal: Refund to your PayPal account
  • Other methods: Contact us to discuss alternative arrangements if necessary

6. Partial Refunds

We do not offer partial refunds or pro-rata refunds for unused warranty periods. The warranty is either:

  • Fully refundable within 14 days if unused (no claims made), or
  • Non-refundable after 14 days or after any claim has been made

7. Exceptions

In exceptional circumstances, we may consider refund requests outside these standard terms at our sole discretion. This might include situations such as:

  • Administrative errors on our part
  • Duplicate warranty purchases
  • Warranty purchased for an ineligible product

8. Non-Refundable Scenarios

The following situations are explicitly non-refundable:

  • Requests made more than 14 days after purchase
  • Warranties where a claim has been made (even if declined)
  • Warranties that have expired or are nearing expiry
  • Dissatisfaction with claim outcomes (subject to our complaints procedure)

9. Your Statutory Rights

This refund policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law. If you believe a service has been mis-sold or misrepresented, you may have additional rights.
